Στις 18 Απριλίου 1893, το κράτος εμπιστεύεται στον Cormon την υλοποίηση ενός διακοσμητικού συνόλου δέκα πάνελ τοίχου και οροφής για το αμφιθέατρο Παλαιοντολογίας και το Μουσείο Ανθρωπολογίας Φυσικής Ιστορίας στο Παρίσι. Καρπός μακροσκελής τεκμηρίωσης και διεξαγωγής προκαταρκτικών σκίτσων, η διακόσμηση του αμφιθέατρο εγκαινιάστηκε το 1898 και βρίσκεται ακόμη στη θέση του σήμερα. Παρουσιάζει μια σειρά από σκηνές που αναδημιουργούν αυτό που θα μπορούσε κανείς να φανταστεί τις πρώτες μέρες της ανθρωπότητας ενόψει της νέας επιστημονικής γνώσης.
